The Kite Fest

On September 5th, we visited Spanish Fork’s first ever Kite Fest.  We brought our own kites and immediately tried to join in on the public kite flying.  Of course, we couldn’t get OUR kites to fly.  Marissa stomped off and said that she was never flying kites again.  We saw some amazingly huge kites there shaped like squids and octopi.  We decided to go watch other kites…we saw some kites being pulled by a couple guys on jet skis.  That was way fun to watch.  But, the best part of the evening…other than the italian ice, was getting to ride a segway.  There were a bunch of businesses in booths, and one was advertising the segway.  I watched Adam try one and then he finally convinced me to do the same.  It was WAY cool.  If I had $5,000 to spare, I would totally buy one.  I’d be one of those weird people riding one back and forth places.  We tried to join in the kite flying again, and a teenage girl finally took pity on us and just handed her kite to Jonathan since it was already up in the air.  She told him to fly it for awhile and then give it to someone else who couldn’t get their kite to fly.  The kids shared this kite and then gave it to two little girls on their way home.  It’s nice to meet such kind people.
